Welcome to the year 2008!
With the beginning of a brand new year, comes lots of firsts in the Tremblay family. First off, Robbie is now 1 year old! While his birthday was a very simple one, there was lots of fun.
Cindy, Robbie, my mom and I went to an area McDonald's for Robbie to play in the playland area. After eating some fries and some bits of a hamburger, Robbie and I ventured into the jungle tubes! It was pretty interesting to climb around the tubes, all the while moving out of the way of other children who were crawling all over this area. Robbie and I made it to one of the pods that resembled a cockpit for a spacecraft. While he played with the control stick, I placed my hands on the floor to move it around and give him the feeling that he was flying the spaceship. As he looked out the window towards Cindy and grandma, he had a big, cheesy grin on his face. Unfortately, we did not have a camera with us for any photo shots. Now for us to get out of the play area, we had to take a slide to get from the top level back to the outside area of the playland. Needless to say, Robbie would do very well as a luger in the Olympics someday if he decided he wanted to follow that road.
We then went to Krogers to get a free birthday cake and a small cake for Robbie to have for himself. While we didn't have cake on his birthday, we did have a good time.
The next day, we came home from church and lunch and proceeded to give him his birthday presents. He received a pop-up tent from Grandpa & Grammie that has 2 doorways and can be used as a hide-a-way in the future. Chloe even has fun with it as well at times. Cindy and I got Robbie a truck that he can either ride on or walk behind. Speaking of walking, he is getting very good at it! He can walk pretty well and at times has walked pretty fast!
Later that evening, we brought out his cake with a big number 1 lit up and him promptly sitting in his onesy in his high chair. We had placed a large plastic table cover under his high chair to keep any cake from getting into the rug. His eyes got pretty big at the site as we sang happy birthday to him. After Cindy blew out the candle, she promptly placed the cake in front of him.
After a few minutes of investigating, he opened his little mouth as wide as he could get it and went head first into the cake! And yes, we do have pictures of this great event! Dad made sure of it! Robbie went on to do this a few more times and by the time he was finished, he had cake all over and even up his nose! We took him up to the tub to give him a bath (since it was bath night anyway) and gave him one to get all the cake off of him and then a regular bath. Needless to say, I don't think I will have to teach Robbie how to be a boy. He is doing a great job being one all by himself!
So as you can tell, he is getting pretty good at being a little guy and I am sure there will be more fun things to bring to you at this site. As soon as we get the birthday film developed, I will place them on here as well.
In other news. We all went back to Florida to attend the funeral of Robbie's great grandma who had passed away on January 4th. Nana would have been 90 years old next month and we are glad she was able to meet Robbie before her homegoing. While we are saddened by this, we all know she is enjoying her glorified body and praising her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Robbie also got to meet his great-uncle Lee and great aunt Paulina, who live near San Jose, Costa Rica. We had a good time visiting with them and maybe in the future will be able to travel to Costa Rica to visit them.
And finally, after almost 12 years of working at YES-FM, I will be leaving to be able to spend more time with Cindy and Robbie. It has been amazing to see how christian music has changed in over the years since I have been involved in radio. My career began at Mount Vernon Nazarene College (now University) in the fall of 1990 and will conclude, for the time being, on January 25th. While I will miss the daily happenings of working at the station, it is all worth it to be able to spend more time with Robbie and Cindy.
Well, that is about it for the time being. I hope to be a bit more on top of things in the future with this site and be able to bring you news that you will enjoy reading about the Tremblay family.
Until next time!
